I would like to share this scripture with anyone who feels under pressure, going through hard times and feels discouraged. If you do feel like life is trail by fire, know that God is with you and surrounding you with love and grace. A good start is to read the Word of God to grow in the true knowledge of whom God is. Only then you can distinguish between your feelings and the truth. Our hearts are deceptive, and we should rather trust what God says instead of our hearts. Another good way that will help you with the struggle is to pray fervently about what you are going through, asking for advice, godly wisdom, peace and comfort from our God who knows all! Talk to God, have a conversation with Him. If need be, cry out to Him, express what you feel, and ask Him to help you think clearly about things. He might not answer immediately, but wait on Him (this is quite important). Do not make your own plans, He answers in His perfect timing. Wait on God. The last point, we can find a way through difficult times is to have fellowship with a church community, this is the infrastructure of support God designed for His children so that they do not have to face challenges alone. When we start building relationships in church we are encouraged, but also we can encourage others. I hope that this will help you as much as it has helped me.
Dear UBC family and others,
I would like to wish you a very happy and blessed new year. New years can always seem so intimidating with things starting off from scratch, new challenges, new worries. But I would like to encourage all of us to keep focused on our Almighty God, who knows the future, and knows what we need every day. We need to drink from the everlasting stream of living water.
“…but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14
Just an announcement on sermon recordings: I have just uploaded sermons from the 20th December 2015 to 3 January 2016. Please feel free to visit our website and catch up on sermons. God bless you for the new year, and may God grow His kingdom through us.
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child.
Luke 2:8-17 ESV
WOW Prophecies came true!!!
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 ESV
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,'” John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
Mark 1:2-11 ESV
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Matthew 1:18-25 ESV
I would like to introduce a Christmas project UBC will be taking part in this year. It is called the JINGLE BELL PROJECT organised by Community UPlift.
Community UPlift is an initiative that acts as a middle-man, helping people (like you) support a registered non-profit organization. They are affiliated to our sister church Durban North Baptist.
The Jingle Bell project creates opportunity for people to reach out with a blessing bag (All the information is on the attached poster).
This year they would love to bless Natal Settlers (independent, non-profit, non-governmental, community service organisation) a home for people with dementia, cerebral palsy children, the aged, frail, mentally challenged and physically disabilities.
I am sure you would agree that this is a worthwhile project!
So I pray that you would open your heart and help us with donations and Build-a-Blessing bag (the more the merrier). You can can start collecting the items on the shopping list and bring your bag to UBC church office where we will collect them and drop them off for you! Any more information needed?
Please email me on email@example.com.
